Hank, first of all, I am sure the NCC board do remember about the membership amount enough to get a qualified majority. Second, what can the qualified majority do? Elect two or three (once in 3 years) board members? Put in issue two or three members' election? Anyway, thank you for taking this issue in mind. -- Best, Sergey > On 19. 4. 2024, at 1:52, Hank Nussbacher <hank at interall.co.il> wrote: > > On 18/04/2024 16:17, Remco van Mook wrote: > > Dear Remco and others, > > One fear that I have that can threaten a stable RIPE NCC is the hostile takeover of the RIPE NCC. With the average annual cost of a LIR being about 2KEuro, what is to stop some malicious actor with 5MEuro in his/her pocket to creating 2500 valid new paying members and hijacking the vote for the board and the vote for cost sharing and in regards to new allocations? > > I think the time has come for RIPE NCC to create "golden shares": > https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_share > assigned to around 20-30 well known organizations/people that have always had the best interest of RIPE on their minds - which can outvote any hostile takeover. > > Regards, > Hank > > >> Dear colleagues, >> I’d like to draw your attention to an article that was just published on RIPE Labs, about building a stable future for the RIPE NCC. >> As it touches on some very foundational aspects all across the various working groups and NCC membership, I thought it important to share, and I would very much like to ask everyone for their input and ideas. >> In order to not spread the discussion too much across the various mailing lists, I suggest that we use the general RIPE list (which I’ve put into the reply-to field of this email. >> I’m currently in the process of organising a BOF during RIPE 88 on this topic as well and am looking forward to a constructive discussion! >> Kind regards, >> Remco van Mook >> RIPE NCC Executive Board >> _______________________________________________ >> members-discuss mailing list >> members-discuss at ripe.net >> https://lists.ripe.net/mailman/listinfo/members-discuss >> Unsubscribe: https://lists.ripe.net/mailman/options/members-discuss/hank%40interall.co.il > > > _______________________________________________ > members-discuss mailing list > members-discuss at ripe.net > https://lists.ripe.net/mailman/listinfo/members-discuss > Unsubscribe: https://lists.ripe.net/mailman/options/members-discuss/kaa%40net-art.cz
